University of Florida freshman Terrell Wilks won the 100-meter dash at the USA Junior Championships at Jesse Owens Stadium at Ohio State on Friday night.
Wilks blazed through the field, winning the final in a time of 10.19, easily out-distancing runner-up Antonio Sales of South Carolina who clocked a time of 10.33.
With the victory, Wilks earned a spot of the USA's squad for the 2008 IAAF World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland in July.
Wilks lowered his personal record time in the prelims, winning in a time of 10.25, the fastest qualifying time of the preliminary rounds. His previous PR was a 10.26 he ran at the SEC Championships last month.
He then lowered his personal record time in the final significantly with his winning mark of 10.19, run with a legal wind of +1.1 meters per second.
Wilks will also compete in the 200-meter dash on Saturday.
Other Gators participating this weekend include LaMarr Davis in the 400-meter dash, Daisy Glasser in the pole vault and Mario Ariet in the javelin.
