Ninety-three Gators Selected to SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll

Ninety-three University of Florida student-athletes were named to the 2008 Southeastern Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday by league commissioner Mike Slive. Florida's 93 SEC Academic Honor Roll recipients is third only to South Carolina's 105 and Georgia's 96.
The 2007-08 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2007 Summer, 2007 Fall and 2008 Spring terms.
The Gators led all SEC institutions for 2008 Academic All-SEC honorees in two spring sports - men's track & field (22) and women's golf matched the league-record with its nine honorees. The Gator men's golf team also set a program record with nine on the Academic All-SEC Honor Roll.

| A total of 187 UF student-athletes earned a spot on the league's academic honor roll in 2007-08. That number matches UF's second-highest figure turned in last season and just six away from UF's all-time record of 193 set in 2002-03. Florida's 187 selections (46 fall, 48 winter, 93 spring) is second only to South Carolina's 200 for the 2007-08 academic year. |
To be recognized to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team for two years if non-scholarship; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
