Yadloczky Completes Day One of Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship

Rising sophomore Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.) competed in the first round of the Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship on Wednesday. Yadloczky was paired with Auburn's Cydney Clanton and the duo helped Team USA claim the final match of the day with a 146-151 victory.
The United States won three matches and halved another to claim a 7-5 lead after the first day of competition. Yadloczky and Clanton were the only women's pair to record a victory for Team USA. UCLA's Sydnee Michaels and Lizette Salas of USC comprised the other Team USA women's team pairing.
The Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship – the longest running international collegiate golf event in the world – features outstanding men's and women's college players from the United States and Japan. Founded to help promote international goodwill through the game of golf, former U.S. players include Curtis Strange, Jay Haas, Peter Jacobsen, Brad Faxon, Juli Inkster, Davis Love III, Steve Stricker, Dottie Pepper, Todd Hamilton, David Toms, Ben Curtis, Bob Tway and Scott Verplank.
Team Japan claimed a victory in 2007 in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. This was Japan's first ever win on U.S. soil and broke an 11 year winning streak by Team USA. The United States holds a 23-9 lead in the all-time series.
The second round resumes on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. (GMT +9) in which golfers from Team USA and Team Japan compete head-to-head. Yadloczky is paired against Japan's Hiroko Ayada.
