Track and Field's Wilks Qualifies for 100m Finals at IAAF World Junior Championships

Sophomore Florida sprinter Terrell Wilks (New Haven, Conn.) on Tuesday advanced to the finals of the men's 100-meter dash at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Poland.
Wilks ran two rounds on Tuesday, finishing in a time of 10.28 in the quarterfinals and 10.38 in the semifinals. His season-best time of 10.19 is the best in the field heading into the final round, which will take place Wednesday. He also will participate in the 4x100-meter relay at the event.
Wilks won the 100-meter dash at the USA Junior Championships in Columbus, Ohio, in late June. He won the final in a time of 10.19, easily out-distancing runner-up Antonio Sales of South Carolina, who clocked a time of 10.33. He also finished third in the 200-meter dash at that event in a time of 21.08 (-2.2).
Wilks was part of UF's third-place 4x100-meter relay team at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, in mid June.
