Florida rolls in 82-68 win over Vanderbilt

Freshman guard Erving Walker (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored a team-high 17 points off the bench to lead Florida past Vanderbilt 82-68 Saturday at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center to remain tied atop the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division.
The Gators had five players score in double figures as they extended their home-winning streak to 17 and swept the season series against the Commodores. Sophomore guard Nick Calathes (Casselberry, Fla.) scored 14 points and senior guard Walter Hodge (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) chipped in 12 points for the Gators.
Junior forward Dan Werner (Middletown, N.J.) was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, including 3-for-3 behind the arc, for 11 points and sophomore forward Alex Tyus (St. Louis, Mo.) finished with 10 points.
Florida (21-6, 8-4 SEC) made 15 3-pointers in the first meeting last month and handed Vandy its worst loss of the season, 94-69. This one was another lopsided affair -- mostly because Florida got off to a torrid start.
The Gators took the lead within the first minute of the game and never looked back, jumping out to a 19-4 lead. They were up 50-25 early in the second half and easily held on from there.
Sophomore forward Chandler Parsons (Casselberry, Fla.) led the team with five rebounds and added nine points. Freshman forward Kenny Kadji (Douala, Camaroon) added seven points and four blocked shots in 16 minutes of action.
A.J. Ogilvy led the Commodores (16-10, 5-7) with 18 points and six rebounds. Brad Tinsley had 12 points.
The Gators will hit the road for a nationally-televised game at LSU on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. on ESPN. Florida will return home to take on Tennessee next Sunday (Mar. 1) at 2 p.m.
