UF in 7th heading into final round in Puerto Rico

The University of Florida men's golf team is in seventh place heading into the final round of the Puerto Rico Classic after shooting a one-over par 289in the second round in San Juan at the Rio Mar Resort. Senior Billy Horschel (Grant, Fla.) shot a 68 (-4) in the second round and is tied for sixth at five-under par 139 for the tournament.
“Today was similar to yesterday in some ways,” said head coach Buddy Alexander. “Georgia and Clemson went off. We shot one-over par, and it was similar to yesterday because we got off to a terrible start. The difference was we had two guys play pretty decent.”
Horschel, a three-time All-American, led the team for the second-straight day. Junior Tim McKenney (Scottsdale, Ariz.) improved his first-round score by six strokes, shooting three-under par 69. He is tied for22nd at even par 144 for the tournament.
The remaining three players in the lineup struggled on Saturday. Junior Tyson Alexander (Gainesville, Fla.) and freshman Mu Hu (Shen Zhen, China) each shot four-over par 76. Senior Toby Ragland (Jacksonville, Fla.) shot six-over par 78.
Alexander is tied for 40th at three-over par 147 after 36 holes. Hu and Ragland share atie for 57th at 150 (+6).
“We did have some good stuff today,” said Coach Alexander. “We'll have to do really well tomorrow to make up some ground.”
Georgia shot an amazing 18-under par in the second round and have a two-round total of553 (-23) heading into Sunday's final round. Texas' Dylan Fritelli remains atop the individual leader board after shooting an impressive eight-under par 64 in the second round. Fritelli is 13-under par (131) for the tournament.
Final round action will begin with a shotgun start at 6:30 ET on Sunday. Final results will be posted to Gatorzone.com at the conclusion of the tournament.
