Wednesday, February 4, 2009 | Softball
University of Florida head coach Tim Walton addressed the media Tuesday morning as part of the Gators' All-Sports Media Day.
Coach Walton began by thanking everyone involved with last weekend's successful charity event, “Swinging for Cancer” to benefit UF Shands Center Hospital.
He previewed the team's preparation for the 2009 season, which gets underway this weekend with a three-game series against Baylor.
He also discussed and fielded questions about talking with the team dealing with the preseason No. 1 national ranking, on starting the season against a strong opponent, on playing with a “target” on their back, on the newcomers, on having a senior-laden team, on senior pitcher Stacey Nelson and on how men's basketball coach Billy Donovan was able to hit a pitch off of Nelson during the charity event.
