Gators Fall to Auburn, 61-58, in Second Round of SEC Tournament

Sophomore Alex Tyus (St. Louis, Mo.) tallied a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds, but the Gators were edged, 61-58, by Auburn in the second round of the 2009 SEC tournament Friday.
The Gators (23-10) had a shot to tie on the final possession, but Auburn's Quantez Richardson blocked Erving Walker's (Brooklyn, N.Y.) 3-point attempt just before the buzzer. Walker finished with 14 points and two assists on the night.
Florida led, 29-28, heading into the locker room at halftime, but Auburn's 44.0 percent shooting from the field propelled the Tigers ahead of the Gators in the second half.
Sophomore Nick Calathes (Casselberry, Fla.) grabbed 11 rebounds and chipped in seven points in UF's efforts. Calathes additionally dished out a team-leading five assists.
AU's Korvotney Barber had 12 points, 10 rebounds to advance the Auburn to the semifinals of the league tournament Saturday.
