Ragland Named to SEC Community Service Team
Wednesday, April 22, 2009 | Men's Golf
University of Florida senior Toby Ragland (Jacksonville , Fla.) has been named to the fifth annual Southeastern Conference Men's Golf Community Service Team, the league office announced Wednesday.
Ragland is one of nine student-athletes across the league who have been named to the squad. The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.
Ragland has been a part of the Goodwill Gators program at Florida during his four years as a student-athlete. He helped with the Gator Tracks program last fall, delivering shoes to underprivileged children in the Gainesville area.
Ragland owns two top-10 finishes this season, including his first collegiate win at the 2009 SunTrust Gator Invitational. Ragland shot a second-round 65 (-5) and completed 54-holes in a three-way tie before outlasting teammate Billy Horschel on the seventh playoff hole.
Ragland and the Gators await an NCAA Regional bid to one of six host sites, May 14-16. The NCAA Championships take place May 27-30 at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
