T&F Men Ranked No. 1 in Nation

The University of Florida men's track and field team has been ranked No. 1 in the nation according to this week's United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Poll, the New Orleans-based organization announced Wednesday.
The Gators, who turned in one of the finest performances at the Penn Relays Carnival in school history last weekend, rocketed up to the top spot from a No. 4 national ranking last week. Florida's men have been ranked in the nation's top-10 the entire season (both indoors and outdoors).
Florida is one of eight Southeastern Conference teams ranked in the nation's top 25 this week, including five in the top 10. The list includes: LSU (No. 6), Auburn (No. 7), Arkansas (No. 8), South Carolina (No. 9), Kentucky (No. 16), Georgia (No. 19) and Tennessee (No. 24).
The 2009 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Champion, Oregon, currently is ranked No. 2, while Texas A&M (No. 3), Arizona State (No. 4) and Florida State (No. 5) round out the nation's top five.
The Gators finished second nationally at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Championships.
The men's track and field team is one of two Florida teams currently ranking as the nation's No. 1 team. The Gator softball team is currently ranked No. 1 in the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 poll, released Tuesday afternoon.
