Cueto, Lacroix Fall in Opening Round of NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Tournament

Freshman Carlos Cueto (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain) and sophomore Alex Lacroix (Paris, France) were eliminated from the NCAA men's tennis singles tournament in opening-round action on Wednesday, capping a season in which both players earned first-team All-SEC honors and Cueto was named SEC Freshman of the Year.
No. 23 Cueto fell to the tournament's No. 3 seed, Ohio State's Bryan Koniecko, 6-3, 6-2. Lacroix's defeat came at the hands of Pepperdine's No. 44 Omar Altmann by a score of 6-3, 6-4.
The Gators doubles pair of Antoine Benneteau (Boulogne-Billancourt, France) and Joey Burkhardt (St. Augustine), rated No. 16, will take the court Thursday in the first round of doubles action against Texas A&M's No. 7-ranked tandem of Austin Krajicek and Conor Pollock. The time of the first serve has not yet been announced, pending completion of today's singles action.
