Gators Head to Seminole Twilight For Final Tuneup Before SECs

Members of the University of Florida track and field team will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., on Friday to participate in the two-day Seminole Twilight Invitational hosted by Florida State University at Mike Long Track.
The meet will serve as a final regular-season tune-up before Florida plays host to the 2009 Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 14-17 at Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium.
The two-day event commences at 12 p.m. EST Friday afternoon and will continue at 10 a.m. EST Saturday morning. Among the programs scheduled to participate in the meet are Albany State, Auburn, Florida, host Florida State, Georgia Tech and North Florida.
The Gators enter the meet ranked as the No. 1 men's track and field team in the nation.
Friday's activities will consist of primarily field events, featuring All-Americans Beau Burroughs and Kemal Mesic in the men's discus at 4 p.m. EST. Saturday's full day of competition includes two-time NCAA Indoor Champion shot putter Mariam Kevkhishvili and All-America pole vaulter Natalie Moser.
Mike Long Track has served as home of the FSU track and field team for 53 years. The site of last year's NCAA East Regional, Mike Long Track was named after Florida State's first track and field head coach.
