Two Former Gators Advance at IAAF World Championships

Former Florida track and field athletes Kerron Clement and Novlene Williams-Mills each won their heats and advanced to the semifinal rounds of their respective events on Saturday at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics at Berlin, Germany.
Clement, representing the United States, posted the fastest time of any athlete in the men's 400-meter hurdles on Saturday, winning his heat in a time of 48.39. He will advance to Sunday's semifinals of the event.
Williams-Mills, representing her native Jamaica, won her heat, finishing 11th overall in the preliminaries of the women's 400-meter dash in a time of 51.55. She advances to Sunday's semifinal round of the event.
Current Florida track and field athlete and three-time NCAA Champion Mariam Kevkhishvili (Tbilisi, Georgia) will begin participation in the World Championships Sunday in the women's shot put.
