Three Former Gators March on at World Championships

Three former University of Florida track and field athletes moved on to the next round of their respective events on Sunday at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics at Berlin, Germany.
Former Gator sprinters Kerron Clement and Novlene Williams-Mills advanced to the finals of the men's 400-meter hurdles and women's 400-meter dash, respectively.
Clement posted the fastest time overall in the semifinals of the men's 400-meter hurdles, registering a season-best time of 48.00 to win his heat. For the second consecutive day, Clement, representing the United States, registered the event's overall fastest time for the second consecutive day. He advances to Tuesday's finals of the 400-meter hurdles.
Williams-Mills, representing her native Jamaica, won her heat of the women's 400-meter semifinals in a time of 49.88 to advance to Tuesday's final.
Former Gator Hazel Clark finished third in her heat and 10th overall in the preliminaries of the women's 800-meter run, clocking a time of 2:02.67. She moves on to Monday's event semifinals.
Current Gator thrower Mariam Kevkhishvili (Tbilisi, Georgia) just missed qualifying in the women's shot put, finishing eighth in her flight with a toss of 58-10.75/17.95m. Former Florida thrower Kristin Heaston also failed to advance in the women's shot put.
