University of Florida track and field athletes took home a pair of gold medals on the final day of the 2009 Pan Am Junior Track and Field Championships Sunday at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Hurdler William Wynne (Marietta, Ga.), who completed his freshman season at Florida in 2009, captured the men's 400-meter hurdles in a time of 49.31. His time went down as the fastest junior 400mH time in the world this year and broke his own Pan Am Junior Championships record in that event, set Saturday in the preliminaries in a time of 49.89.
Sprinter Alishea Usery (St. Louis, Mo.), who also completed her rookie campaign in 2009, ran the first leg of the gold-medal-winning 4x400-meter relay team, which finished in a time of 3:36.34. The other members of the quartet included: Angele Cooper, Kellie Schueler and Diamond Richardson.
