Tomorrow evening's edition of GatorZone on Sun Sports includes a feature about Florida gymnast Courtney Gladys. The first airing of GatorZone is at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13 with a re-airing at noon on Thursday, Jan. 14.
Gladys, a senior from Winter Garden, Fla., joined the team as a walk-on in the fall of 2006. She has been a regular in the Gator lineup since her sophomore season. In 2009, she competed as an all-around in the final six meets of the season, turning in her collegiate-best all-around total of 39.275 in the NCAA Super Six team final. Gladys shows dedication on the competition floor, but also in the classroom. Gladys is majoring in advertising and is also concentrating on two minors: leadership and business administration. Gladys was the recipient of Most Improved Award at the gymnastic team's annual awards banquet in 2009 and also a member of the 2009 and 2008 Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Gladys and the rest of the No. 8 Gator gymnastics team will be in action Friday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. for their home opener versus No. 7 Arkansas. Tickets are $4.00 for adults while children 17 and under and UF students with Gator1 cards are admitted free. The Gator gymnasts will be available for autographs post-meet.
