The University of Florida's 10th-ranked doubles pair of senior Antoine Benneteau (Boulogne-Billacourt, France) and junior Alexandre Lacroix (Paris, France) have earned a spot in the doubles final at the SEC Indoor Championships at the Racquet Club of the South in Norcross, Ga.
The duo advanced by virtue of the withdrawal of their Sunday semifinal opponents, J.P. Smith and Davey Sandgren of Tennessee. Another Gator pair, freshman Sekou Bangoura Jr. (Bradenton) and sophomore Joey Burkhardt (St. Augustine), fell in their semifinal, 8-5, against Georgia's Jamie Hunt and Nate Schnugg. Benneteau and Lacroix will face Hunt and Schnugg in the final at 10 a.m. on Monday.
In singles action, Bangoura dropped his quarterfinal match to Kentucky's No. 8 Eric Quigley, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1. Bangoura swept through the first three rounds, winning his first three collegiate matches, before the loss on Sunday.
