Gator Baseball Announces Finalists for Student Section Contest

University of Florida students will be permitted to vote in the "Name McKethan Stadium's Student Section Contest" beginning Tuesday, January 19 at Noon. Over 475 names were submitted by students over a one-week period and beginning Tuesday the entire student body will be permitted to select the student group's name from a list of six finalists. Submissions were reviewed by a committee and the following were selected:
- Alley Gators
- Bleacher Creatures
- Left Field Lizards
- McKethan Maniacs
- Raucous Reptiles
- The Screwballs
Beginning at Noon on January 19, the entire Florida student body will have the opportunity to vote for the final winner at GatorZone.com/baseball. Voting will last until Friday, January 22 at 5 p.m. and the student section name will be announced on Monday, January 25. UF students are only permitted to vote one (1) time. The student with the winning entry will receive a baseball autographed by Head Coach Kevin O'Sullivan, Nike gear and will have the opportunity to throw out the first pitch prior to a game during the 2010 season.
While on the Gator Baseball page, UF students can also register to be a part of the 2010 student section. As a member, students receive t-shirts courtesy of Cabana Beach Apartments and invites to student section only pre-game socials. Throughout the season members will also have a chance to win prizes at games for wearing their student section t-shirts. The 2010 University of Florida baseball season begins Friday, February 19 versus USF at 6:30 p.m. at McKethan Stadium.
