Right-hander Liam Peterson pitched his first-career complete game to clinch the series at LSU.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – On the heels of throwing a complete-game gem in game two at LSU, Florida Gators right-handed pitcher Liam Peterson has been named the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week per a press release by the league office on Monday.
For Peterson, the announcement marks the first SEC Pitcher of the Week nod of his career. The Palm Harbor, Fla. native was previously the SEC Freshman of the Week on May 20, 2024.
Getting the game two start at LSU, Peterson went the distance to earn his first-career, complete-game victory to clinch the series for Florida. Peterson fired all seven innings behind 95 pitches, scattering three hits and one walk while racking up 11 strikeouts — one shy of his season high. The lone blemish against Peterson was a solo home run in the fourth, as he held the Tigers to a .125 batting average on the night.
Thanks to the stellar outing, Peterson now holds a 4.00 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and .240 batting average against on the season. The junior righty has racked up 99 strikeouts – good for sixth in the SEC – against 35 walks in 74 1/3 innings pitched.
