Gators Open 2010 Outdoor Season at UCF
Thursday, March 18, 2010 | Track and Field
The University of Florida track and field teams open their 2010 outdoor seasons on Saturday when they travel to Orlando, Fla., to participate in the UCF Black and Gold Challenge. The meet commences at 10:30 a.m. ET at the UCF Track and Field Complex.
Results for the meet will be available through www.halfmiletiming.com. Admission is free and open to the public. The meet will serve as a low-key competition for the purposes of beginning the 2010 outdoor campaign.
“We're looking forward to beginning our outdoor season this weekend at UCF,” Florida head coach Mike Holloway said. “This will be a great opportunity to give our younger athletes some experience and also to give some of our athletes who didn't compete indoors the chance to get a strong start to their season.”
The Florida track and field teams are coming off one of their most impressive national meets in program history. The No. 1 men's team captured the first NCAA Indoor Championship in program history, while the women's team placed fourth nationally.
