Sunday, April 18, 2010 | Men's Tennis
The sixth-ranked University of Florida men's tennis team has secured the No. 2 seed at the upcoming Southeastern Conference men's tennis Tournament at the University of Kentucky's Hillary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex in Lexington, Ky.
As a result of receiving the second seed, the Gators will get a first-round bye when the tournament commences on Thursday. Florida will first take the courts at noon on Friday, April 23, facing the winner of Mississippi State and Vanderbilt's first-round matchup.
UF's second-place finish in the SEC came with a 9-1 conference record, while going 17-3 overall this spring.
During the regular season, Florida defeated Vanderbilt, 7-0, in Nashville, while its showdown with Mississippi State was unfinished due to weather with Florida holding the lead on four of six singles courts.
The Gators will be looking for their second SEC Tournament championship under head coach Andy Jackson, who has led UF into the tournament finals three times.
