No. 5 Florida to take on Mississippi State as SEC Race Heats Up

The No. 6/5 University of Florida softball team travels to Starkville, Miss., for a three-game series with Mississippi State on May 1-2. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. (ET) and Sunday's game will begin at 1 p.m. (ET).
The Gators (35-7, 15-4 SEC) hold a slight edge in the all-time series with the Bulldogs, tallying 20 wins and 17 losses. They are 8-7 in Starkville, but have won the last six meetings on the Bulldogs' home turf. UF is riding an eight-game winning streak against MSU and has won 11 of the last 12 games.
Florida is in a tight battle for the Southeastern Conference title after taking the last two. The Gators are second in the overall standings behind No. 4 Alabama and first in the SEC East.
All three games against the Bulldogs will be broadcast on WYGC-FM 105 The Game (104.9) as Steve Russell calls the action. Sunday's 1 p.m. game will be aired live on SportSouth and on www.espn3.com. Sun Sports will re-air the game at 11 p.m. (ET) in the Gainesville area. Live statistics will also be available through www.mstateathletics.com.

Sophomore Michelle Moultrie (Jacksonville, Fla.) leads the team with a .423 batting average and 55 hits while senior Francesca Enea (Woodland Hills, Calif.) has a league-high 17 home runs and a team-high 54 RBIs, second-most in the SEC. The left fielder has belted 58 career homers, second in SEC record books. Freshman Brittany Schutte (Fountain Valley, Calif.) is second on the Gators with 12 long balls and 37 RBIs, ranked second and tied for third on UF's freshman record list, respectively. Junior Stephanie Brombacher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) leads the Gator pitching staff with a 24-5 record and a 2.14 ERA.
