Lacrosse Earns Sixth Seed for ALC Tournament
Monday, May 3, 2010 | Lacrosse
The University of Florida lacrosse team earned the sixth seed for the upcoming American Lacrosse Conference Tournament at Ohio State University beginning on Thursday. This will be the program's first appearance in the ALC tournament after finishing the regular season with a 9-6 record and a 1-4 mark in conference play.
Florida tied for fourth place in the regular-season ALC standings with Ohio State and Penn State. The Nittany Lions won the tie-breaker based on fewest goals allowed in conference play, and the Buckeyes took the fifth seed based on the head-to-head result with the Gators during the regular season.
The quarterfinal matchup will pair Florida with No. 3 seed Johns Hopkins (10-6, 3-2 ALC) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Jesse Owens Complex. In March, the Blue Jays defeated UF 16-8 in the Gators first-ever ALC game.
The winner of the opening round game between Florida and Johns Hopkins will face No. 2 seed Vanderbilt on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the tournament semifinals.
Gator fans have several options to follow the action this week. Live streaming video will be available through OhioStateBuckeyes.com. There will also be an online radio broadcast available through Yahoo Radio beginning at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday for the opening-round matchup. Scoring updates will be provided throughout the UF games via Twitter.com/GatorZoneLax.
