Florida Places 58 on SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll
Fifty-eight University of Florida student-athletes were named Monday to the 2009-10 Southeastern Conference Freshmen Academic Honor Roll by league commissioner Mike Slive. Grades from the 2009-10 academic year are used to determine the 2010 SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll.
Monday's announcement gives Florida a total of 235 student-athletes that were named to a SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2009-10. Florida placed 177 on the SEC Academic Honor Rolls (73 on the Spring list, 53/Winter, 51/Fall) and 58 on the Freshmen Honor Roll.
To be recognized to the SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll, each student-athlete must 1) have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship, a letterwinner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
