Bangoura Set To Begin U.S. Open Play

Sophomore Sekou Bangoura Jr. (Bradenton, Fla.) and doubles partner Nathan Pasha will face Michael Kohlmann of Germany and Finland's Jarkko Nieminen in the first round of the U.S. Open main doubles draw this week.

The pair earned a spot in the main draw by claiming the doubles title in the USTA Boys Tennis National Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich., in August.

Bangoura and Pasha's match is expected to take place either Wednesday or Thursday. Check www.usopen.org each morning for the day's schedule.

In the singles draw, former Gator Ryan Sweeting fell on Monday in the first round to Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-2. It marked Sweeting's fifth straight appearance in the U.S. Open.
