Gator Boosters, Inc., the fundraising arm of the University Athletic Association, has postponed a regularly scheduled per-seat increase for football season tickets to alleviate financial concerns for fans in the midst of a sluggish economy.
As a result, a University of Florida football season ticket will remain one of the cheapest in the Southeastern Conference based on next season's pricing structure.
There will be a minimal $3 increase per ticket per game for the 2012 season, well below the originally scheduled per-seat increase that would have ranged from $25 to $300 for the season.
The $21 increase for next season brings the price of a full season ticket from $259 to $280. That price remains below most of the premier SEC schools' season-ticket prices in 2011, including Auburn ($450), Alabama ($385), Tennessee ($360) and LSU ($350).
The increase will create approximately $1.08 million in new revenue to help offset some of the UAA's increasing costs associated with running its day-to-day business including travel, insurance, UF's tuition increases and the NCAA's adoption in October of up to a $2,000 stipend for full scholarship student-athletes to supplement their costs associated with attending a university.
The increase will not affect single-game or student-ticket prices.
