Thursday, March 24, 2011 | Women's Tennis
Following a 12-day break from competition because of the team's Southeastern Conference weekend bye, the top-ranked Florida women's tennis team returns to action on Friday, when the squad travels to Oxford and plays Ole Miss beginning at 4 p.m. ET.

“We took a few days off last week to rest physically and mentally,” UF head coach Roland Thornqvist said. “We pushed them pretty hard the first few days this week and so far we're looking pretty good. We're excited to Ole Miss. Ole Miss is one of the more talented teams in the league and we certainly will have our hands full.”
The team then returns to Gainesville, where it plays host to Mississippi State on Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission to all regular-season home matches is free!
Florida has won 18 consecutive regular-season SEC matches (4-0 in 2010-11), which includes a perfect 11-0 record in 2009-10 and the final three of the 2008-09 campaign.
The Gators are 36-3 all-time against the Rebels, including a 13-2 record in Oxford. Florida defeated UM last year in Gainesville, 6-1.
The Gators haven't played since they earned a hard-fought 6-1 victory against Alabama on March 11, and downed Auburn, 4-0, on March 13 in a match shortened due to the Tigers' travel schedule.
Florida enters the March 27 match against Mississippi State having won 98 consecutive regular-season home matches - not including SEC Tournament or NCAA Championship events. The current streak is the longest of its kind in program history, passing the 71 in a row compiled from 1994-2001.
Florida also sports an overall program-record 89-match home win streak, which includes 15 wins in postseason play (SEC and NCAA Tournament).
