
Florida men's golfer Bank Vongvanij Named to 2011 Palmer Cup Team

Florida senior Bank Vongvanij (Bradenton, Fla.) was named to the 2011 Palmer Cup United States Team, announced at The Stanwich Club on Wednesday.
Vongvanij was one of eight golfers selected to the team, including conference foes Blayne Barber of Auburn and Georgia's Russell Henley. The list also includes UCLA's Patrick Cantlay, Abilene Christian's Alex Carpenter, Oregon's Daniel Miernicki, Washington's Chris Williams and Stanford's Andrew Yun.
The United States team will be lead by head coach Tim Poe of Central Missouri and assistant coach Michael Burcin of South Carolina.
Vongvanij has three medalist wins and four more top-five finishes in the 2010-11 season so far. His 70.80 stroke average ranks second all-time in UF's single-season stroke average behind Camilo Villegas. Most recently, Vongvanij finished fifth to help Florida win its first SEC Championship in eight years.
