Meyer responds to "harsh" criticism of Tebow by fellow ESPN analyst Hoge

The ongoing "Can Tim Tebow Make it in the NFL Debate?'' was renewed this week by ESPN NFL analyst Merril Hoge.
Basically, Hoge said the Broncos would be crazy to trade quarterback Kyle Orton and hand the starting job to Tebow because he doesn't think Tebow can be a successful NFL quarterback.
We've heard that before, of course, but Hoge's remarks on Twitter and later on "SportsCenter'' seemed a bit over the top to many.
Including a certain NBA star named LeBron James, who defended Tebow in a series of Tweets late Wednesday night.
As for Tebow, he simply responded on Twitter by saying, " 'ppreciate that Merril."
And in what you knew was only a matter of time, ESPN called up former Gators coach Urban Meyer to see what he thought of Hoge's comments. Meyer is now an ESPN college football analyst and member of the media.
Meyer did say he thought Hoge's comments were "harsh'' of his former Gators quarterback.

"The ones that really bother me are the uneducated comments,'' Meyer said, making note that Hoge at least played in the NFL. "That's a man's opinion, obviously a very strong opinion. It's one that was educated or at least one that was looked into. I have no problem with it."
Asked if he thought it was a "fair" opinion, Meyer said: "I think it was a little harsh. I just think it was harsh. You just can't disregard the work [Tebow] has done."
