Former Gators golfer Gary Koch inducted into Florida Sports Hall of Fame

Former UF golfer Gary Koch is entering the Florida Sports Hall of Fame.

Koch is one of 14 new inductees announced Tuesday at a press conference in Tampa.
Prior to becoming a regular on the PGA Tour in the late 1970s, Koch was a three-time All-American for the Gators and a member on the 1973 NCAA championship team.
Koch officially arrived on the state's golf scene when the won the 1969 Florida Open as a 16-year-old amateur.
Koch won six PGA Tour events and later competed on the Champions Tour. He is known more today for his work as a golf analyst on NBC.
Koch joins major leaguers Vince Coleman and Fred McGriff, Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning, NFL players Dick Anderson and Henry Lawrence, FSU quarterback Charlie Ward, track-and-field athlete Dave Roberts, softball coach Jean Joyce, fisherman Roland Martin, professional surfer Kelly Slater, longtime Brandon High wrestling coach Russ Cozart, high school football coach George Smith and Fame for Fitness winner Ryan Nece (played with Bucs) in the Class of 2012.
The group will be inducted at the Florida Hall of Fame Dinner and Enshrinement on March 20 in Tampa.
