Florida's football team defeated Olympics of Jacksonville 9-0, as first-year Coach G.E. Pyle won his first road game.
It took three field goals by halfback E.A. “Dummy” Taylor to send -- get this -- the 62 fans who made the trip back to Gainesville happy.
Pyle went 26-7-3 in five seasons at Florida. His winning percentage of .764 still ranks third behind only Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer in UF history.
Why is there a photo of William Howard Taft with this item?
Well, pictures of Dummy Taylor are hard to come by (even in the UF archives). Plus, Taft was President of the United States at the time.
If nothing else, hopefully his image compelled you to read.
