Hedberg Gains SEC Golfer of the Week Honors

Florida freshman Camilla Hedberg (Sitges, Spain) has been named the women's SEC Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. Hedberg is coming off her third top-25 finish this year after posting a team-low 223 (76-72-75,+10) and placing tied for 19th at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, where every team in the field was ranked or receiving votes in the latest GolfWorld/NGCA Coaches' poll.
“We're really proud of Camilla,” head coach Jan Dowling said. “It was a very difficult field, a very difficult golf course and you really got to golf your ball to finish in the top-20, especially with the field we were in.”
Hedberg, who leads the team in birdies (44) and tied for the team lead in stroke average (73.66), set the school record for lowest tournament total in her first collegiate event at the Cougar Classic last September with a 208 (-8). The Spain native recorded a team-best seven birdies and shot a combined two-under on par-fives throughout the Northrop Grumman.
The UF women's golf team will see its next action in New Orleans for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Classic, Sunday Feb. 26 through Tuesday Feb. 28. The tournament is hosted by Tulane University and will be played at the English Turn Golf and Country Club. Live scoring throughout the tournament will be available at golfstat.com.
