Gators head football coach Will Muschamp and his wife Carol won't be far from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday night, but they will be far removed from the game that has put them in the public spotlight over the years.
The Muschamps are tackling a much more serious matter, serving as honorary chairs of the Stop Children's Cancer Foundation's 24th Annual Fantasy Fundraising Event. The Stop Children's Cancer organization has contributed more than $3.7 million to fund pediatric cancer research at the UF College of Medicine.
Saturday's “Festival Brazil”-themed fundraiser is a black-tie optional event that organizers hope further advances Stop Children's Cancer's mission to fund pediatric research and support UF and Shands Hospital's participation is national clinical trials.
Tickets are on sale now. The event is at 7 p.m. Saturday at the O'Connell Center. To learn more about Stop Children's Cancer, click on this link.
"As parents, Carol and I are honored to support this year's Stop Children's Cancer Fantasy Event as honorary chairs," Muschamp said. “The organization's longtime dedication to fighting pediatric cancer and its support of UF and Shands is admirable and inspiring."
