W-Tennis' Cercone Advances to ITA Southeast Regional Singles Final

Florida's Alexandra Cercone (Seminole, Fla.) advanced to the finals at the 2013 USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships at Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex after winning a pair of hard-fought matches on Sunday.
The Gator senior began the day having to battle sophomore teammate Brianna Morgan (Beverly Hills, Calif.) in the quarterfinals, where she emerged with a 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-2. Cercone, ranked No. 38 in the country, then took down top-seeded and No. 14-ranked Maho Kowase from Georgia, 6-3, 6-4, in the semifinals to log her 98th career singles victory and a spot in the final where she play Georgia's No. 60 Silvia Garcia at 11 a.m. on Monday.
Garcia reached the final after knocking out UF's Sofie Oyen (Leopoldsburg, Belgium), 6-4, 6-4 in their semifinal match.
On the doubles court, the Gator freshmen Kourtney Keegan (Roswell, Ga.) and Belinda Woolcock (Melbourne, Australia) lost their semifinal contest, 8-6, to Georgia's Lauren Herring and Maho Kowase.
