Friday, October 4, 2013 | Women's Tennis
The University of Florida's Brianna Morgan (Beverly Hills, Calif.) and Sofie Oyen (Leopoldsburg, Belgium) dropped their respective opening round singles matches at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships held at the Riviera Tennis Center on Thursday.
Morgan, who won three rounds of qualifying to reach the main draw, lost 6-2, 6-4, to top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Robin Anderson of UCLA, while Oyen fell 6-3, 6-4 to California's No. 3-ranked and third-seeded Zsofi Susanyi in her opening-round bout.
Both begin action in the consolation draw on Friday.
Quoting the Coach:
“Unfortunately, Brianna had a slower start than she wanted, but battled back to 5-4 in the second with some chances to even it up but Anderson just played better in the end. Sofie fought hard. She held the ball and grinded, but Susanyi was a little better I the end, as well.” – UF associate head coach Dave Balogh
