Women's Tennis Pair Falls in USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships Opening Round

Gators Alexandra Cercone (Seminole, Fla.) and Sofie Oyen (Leopoldsburg, Belgium) lost their respective opening-round singles matches at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Oyen drew the No. 1-seed in the 32-player event and dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to North Carolina's Jammie Loeb, while Cercone fell to Michigan's Emina Bektas, 7-6, 6-1.
Both Gators return to the court on Friday in consolation action.
The other five members of the team begin play on Friday at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic held at the Athletic Center of Lakewood Ranch in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
