The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced All-America distinctions for the 2013 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field season. Honors are awarded for performances at the final site of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships occurring last weekend in Eugene, Ore.
Leading the way in All-America honors on the men's side was sophomore Hugh Graham, Jr. (Miami, Fla.), who tied for the national lead with three First Team accolades. The Gator men claimed 13 First Team honors and the women notched eight.
Florida's men captured the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship, scoring 53 points to tie for the title with SEC newcomer Texas A&M. This is the fifth team title for the UF men's track and field program since 2010 and the second consecutive NCAA Outdoor crown for the Gators.
The Orange and Blue took home three individual NCAA titles courtesy of the men's 4x100-meter relay, 4x400-meter relay and senior Omar Craddock (Killeen, Texas), who won his third career NCAA title in the men's triple jump and second straight outdoors.
The UF women finished in a tie for 11th with 25 points, led by two NCAA runner-up finishes by junior Cory McGee (Pass Christian, Miss.) in the women's 1,500 meters and freshman Marija Vucenovic (Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia) in the women's javelin.
First-team USTFCCCA All-America honors are awarded to those who earn any portion of a team point at the national championships, or reach an eight-entrant final. Second-team All-America honors are handed out to those whose final placing in the national meet range from ninth to 16th place.
Those who participated at the final site but did not place in the meet's top 16 are listed as honorable mention for the All-America award.
At the conference level the SEC claimed the most All-America honors, more than doubling the next closest conference on the men's side with 73 and earning 59 women's honors. The Big Ten men were second at 31, followed by the Big 12 at 29 and the Pac-12′s 25.
The competition between conferences on the women's side was closer, with the Pac-12 second at 42 and the Big 12 third at 35.
