Women's Tennis Completes Play at Freeman Memorial

The Florida doubles team of Kourtney Keegan and Sofie Oyen dropped its semifinal match at the 12th annual Freeman Memorial Tennis Championships Sunday during the final day of play held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the UNLV campus.
The Gator tandem dropped a tough 7-5 decision to Southern California's third-seeded and seventh-ranked Zoe Scandalis and Giuliana Olmos.
In non-tournament singles matches, Olivia Janowicz defeated Stanford's No. 41 Taylor Davidson, 6-4, 6-4, while Oyen lost to Duke's No. 45 Ester Goldfeld, 6-2, 6-0, and Keegan dropped a hard-fought 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) match to Scandalis.

Tournament Format:
· The event features one flight each of both singles and doubles along with consolation rounds and added matches.
Experimental Scoring:
· New ITA experimental scoring rules will be used, so doubles matches will be played to 6 instead of 8 and singles matches will use super-tiebreakers for all third sets.
Tough Field:
· Individual competitors will be supplied by teams that include six of the top 10 from the season's initial ITA rankings: No. 1 Stanford, No. 2 Florida, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 5 (tied) USC and UCLA and No. 10 Duke. Host UNLV, ranked 50th nationally, is expected to add five singles players and three doubles teams to the
· field.
· The impressive field boasts 12 of the top 50 individuals and two of the sport's top-three ranked doubles teams scheduled to compete.
Next for the Gators:
Florida begins its dual match schedule next weekend, when the second-ranked Gators play host to the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, Jan. 25-26. Florida faces Louisville on Jan. 25 at 10 a.m., while Harvard plays Missouri at 10 a.m., too.
The consolation match will be on Jan. 26 beginning at 9 a.m. and the championship match at 10 a.m.
The winner advances to the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships to compete in the 16-team event held Feb. 7-10 in Charlottesville, Va.
