Gators Look Ahead to Regionals

After several Gators reached final round matches at the 2014 Bedford Cup last weekend, the Florida women's tennis team hopes to build on their success in Atlanta, Georgia, at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships hosted by Georgia Tech Friday, October 17 through Monday, October 20 at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
The tournament features a field of 14 schools. There are 89 entries across two main singles draws. The doubles draws consist of 43 teams. First round doubles action opens Friday morning at 8 a.m.
All eight Gators on the 2014-15 roster will compete at the tournament. No. 51-ranked and No. 9 seed Kourtney Keegan, No. 89-ranked and No. 13 seed Belinda Woolcock, No. 5 seed Josie Kuhlman, Stefani Stojic, No. 14-ranked and No. 3 seed Brianna Morgan, No. 7 seed Peggy Porter and Spencer Liang will compete in the “A” singles draw. Freshman Brooke Austin will not compete in singles as she received an automatic bid to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships when she reached the main draw singles semifinals at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in California earlier this month.
Austin and Keegan will pair up as the No. 6 seed in the “A” doubles draw. Other Gator tandems competing in the “A” draw include No. 4 seed Porter and Kuhlman, and No. 8 seed Woolcock and Morgan. Liang and Stojic are seeded No. 1 in the “B” doubles draw.
