
Gator Great Wes Chandler Named to 2015 College Football Hall of Fame Ballot

Former Gator All-American Wes Chandler is among 75 former Football Bowl Subdivision players eligible for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2015, the National Football Foundation announced Wednesday.
Named a First Team All-American in 1976 and 1977, Chandler also was a two-time First Team All-SEC selection. The New Smyrna Beach native led the Gators in receiving for three consecutive seasons, finishing 10th in Heisman Trophy voting during his All-America campaign.
Chandler hauled in 92 passes for 1,963 yards during his Gator career, including a school-record 22 touchdown receptions. He left Gainesville as UF's all-time touchdown leader with 28, and led all Gator non-kickers in scoring with 172 points. Drafted third overall by the New Orleans Saints in 1978, Chandler earned four Pro Bowl berths and two All-Pro selections. He stands first among UF alumni in NFL catches and receiving yards, and is a member of the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.
More than 12,000 NFF members and Hall of Fame inductees will cast their ballots electronically, and the class will be selected from a pool of finalists by the 17-member NFF Honors Court. The 2015 College Football Hall of Fame class will be announced Jan. 9, 2015, in Arlington, Texas.
