Schober Fires Under-Par Round; Florida Claims 10th after Round Two of Northrop Grumman

Firing a 68, junior Sarah Schober made seven birdies, more than double her first round, in day two of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge hosted by Ohio State University. Competing as an individual in the event, Schober climbed the player leaderboard to T3 after two days at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
Redshirt sophomore Katie Mitchell had a nice rebound day and improved by four strokes, shooting just one-over (72), and rolling off a notable five birdies in round two at Palos Verdes. Mitchell sits at a solid six-over (148) and leads the Gator lineup heading into day three. Adjusting in her second day on the California course, senior Elcin Ulu cut seven strokes off of her round-one score, penciling in three birdies and shooting just four-over (75) on the day.
The conditions on the course proved tough for the rest of the Florida team. Freshman Maria Torres and junior Camilla Hedberg finished day two at seven-over (149) while freshman Karolina Vlckova wrapped up the Gator lineup at a total 18-over (160).
UF sits in 10th place heading into the final day of the 2014 Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge. No. 1 USC separated themselves by a significant 14 strokes ahead of second-ranked UCLA and the rest of the teams competing.
Head Coach Emily Glaser Says: “The conditions were tough today. We hung in there pretty well at the beginning, but had a stretch of holes through the middle of our round that killed us. This is a course that exposes your weaknesses and I think this team is learning a lot about what we need to do to get better.”
“Sarah is having a great tournament against a strong field and we are very happy for her. She will play a key role for us the remainder of the spring.
