Reidel Anthony to be Inducted into the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame

Former University of Florida wide receiver Reidel Anthony will be inducted into the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday. Anthony, a native of Pahokee, Florida, played at Florida from 1994-96 and went on to play in the National Football League for five seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Anthony was a star football player for Glades Central High School from 1991-94 where he was an All-State and All-American performer. He earned a scholarship to play for the Gators under Steve Spurrier, where he was became an All-SEC and All-American selection.
In 1996, he helped lead the Gators to a 12-1 record and the school's first football national championship. He had 72 catches for 1,293 yards that season and led the SEC with 18 touchdowns.
In 1997, Anthony was selected 16th overall in the NFL Draft by the Buccaneers, where he made the NFL All-Rookie Team. During his playing career in Tampa, Anthony had 144 career receptions for 1,846 yards with 16 touchdowns.
Anthony was inducted into the University of Florida Hall of Fame in 2009 and in 2010 was honored as an SEC Legend. After five years with the Buccaneers, Anthony retired from pro football and is now a businessman living in Tampa.
The Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet is Sunday night at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
