No. 16 Gators Conclude Regular Season With Eight Top-10 Finishes; Hedberg Places in Top-3
Sunday, March 30, 2014 | Women's Golf
The conditions proved tough throughout the 2014 Bryan National Collegiate, but only worsened in the final round. Through sleet and wind on the Champions Course, junior Camilla Hedberg led the No. 16 Florida women's golf team to their eighth top-10 finish of the 2013-14 season. Hedberg carded her lowest round of the event and shot even-par (72) to finish at just 4-over (220) for the tournament.
Although the weather affected all teams, No. 3 Duke finished off the event in first place (882) at 18-over, an impressive 21 strokes ahead of second place No. T12 South Carolina. As a team, Florida took the nine spot on the leaderboard at a final 51-over (915).
Head Coach Emily Glaser Says: “The conditions today were some of the toughest I've ever seen in my career, both as a player and as a coach. Camilla's round was outstanding and she was very patient and smart, the two main factors you needed to play well today. The rest of our team struggled immensely and it was disappointing that no one stepped up to fight through the elements. You were going to make some bogeys today in the tough conditions; the key was to not beat yourself up by making big numbers and that is what we did.”
