After posting a combined 4-0 singles and doubles record, Florida sophomore Brianna Morgan (Beverly Hills, Calif.) was recognized as the Southeastern Conference Women's Tennis Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
The Gator sophomore helped Florida record a pair of conference dual match wins against No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 30 Kentucky during the final weekend of regular-season action.
Highlights of Morgan's week:
· Posted a combined singles (No. 1 position) and doubles record of 4-0 – only Gator to do so!
· The 8-2 doubles win against Vanderbilt's Altick and Casares was the tandem's first win against a ranked opponent this year.
· The doubles win against Vanderbilt was the first individual result of the match and was needed, as the other two doubles matches split results.
· Provided the clinching dual match win in the upset victory of No. 5 Vanderbilt that helped the Gators keep their record home win streak intact
· In the doubles win against Kentucky, Morgan and her partner trailed 5-1, down two breaks before winning the final seven games to win the 8-game pro-set in 58 minutes and provide the clinching doubles-point victory.
· Her singles win against Kentucky was her team-leading 10th consecutive victory
· Morgan improved to 17-1 in SEC career singles dual matches, 10-0 this season.
