
Gator Quartet Honored with SEC Postseason Honors

Florida's Alexandra Cercone (Seminole, Fla.), Olivia Janowicz (Palm Bay, Fla.), Brianna Morgan (Beverly Hills, Calif.) and Sofie Oyen (Leopoldsburg, Belgium) each were recognized by the Southeastern Conference women's tennis coaches, who today announced their annual postseason awards.
Cercone, Janowicz and Morgan were named First Team All-SEC performers and Oyen was voted Second Team All-SEC.
Alexandra Cercone – Season Highlights
· This is the first time in her career the Gator senior has earned First Team honors; was a Second Team selection each of her first three years.
· This season achieved a Career-high ITA singles ranking: 22 (March 11, 2014)
· 16-5 in dual matches, including 9-3 in SEC dual matches
· 6-2 in dual matches versus ranked opponents
· provided the clinching point in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships with a 7-5,6-1 victory over USC's Zoe Scandalis
· snapped Vanderbilt's No. 99 Marie Casares' 17-0 dual match win streak with a 6-3, 6-1 victory
· 5-1 in doubles dual match clinching matches
· 5-2 in SEC regular-season doubles matches
Olivia Janowicz – Season Highlights
· This is the first time in her career the Gator senior has earned First Team honors; was a Second Team selection in 2011 and 2013.
· This season: achieved Career-high ITA singles ranking: 7 (Feb. 25, 2014)
· Career-high ITA doubles ranking: 26 (April 8, 2014)
· has a team-best 32-8 singles record
· won her 200th combined singles & doubles match on April 13, 2014 to clinching regular-season finale win
· 12-4 in dual matches, including 7-1 in SEC regular-season dual matches
· played a career-high No. 1 and No. 2 in the lineup this season, 7-3 record when playing at No. 1 position; 6-1 record when playing at No. 2 position
· SEC Player of the Week Feb. 12, 2014
· significant wins this year: defeated Stanford's Taylor Davidson 6-4, 6-4; defeated USC's No. 13 Sabrina Santamaria 2-6, 6-4, 10-6 in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships
· DOUBLES: 14-3 record in dual matches, including 8-0 in SEC regular-season matches
· 4-1 in doubles dual matches versus ranked opponents
Brianna Morgan – Season Highlights
· This is the first time in her career the Gator sophomore has earned First Team honors; was a Second Team selection in 2013.
· achieved Career-high ITA singles ranking: 14 (Feb.11, April 22, 2014)
· SEC Co-Player of the Week (awarded April 14, 2014)
· 14-2 in dual matches, including a LEAGUE-LEADING 10-0 in SEC regular-season dual matches (plays No. 1 & No. 2 positions; No. 1 in last half of season)
· 27-6 overall singles record … 14-6 record vs. ranked opponents … 4-1 in singles dual match clinching matches ... 7-2 in dual matches versus ranked opponents
· 8-4 record in doubles dual matches, including 5-2 in SEC regular-season matches ... 5-1 in doubles-point dual match clinching matches
Sofie Oyen – Season Highlights
· This is the first time in her career the Gator senior has earned Second Team honors; was a First Team selection in each of her first three years.
· Season-High National Singles Ranking: 16 (fall)
· 14-4 in dual matches, including 9-1 in SEC regular-season dual matches
· 3-0 in singles dual match clinching matches
· became 19th Gator to win 200 career combined singles and doubles match with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Ole Miss' Mai El Kamash on April 6
· Earned her 99th career doubles win in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals
The Gators (19-5) finished the SEC season tied for second in the final regular season standings.
What's Next?
· The NCAA Tennis Selection Show is scheduled for Tue., April 29.
· The men's selection show will begin at 5 p.m. ET and the women's selections revealed at 5:30 p.m. only on NCAA.com
· Singles and doubles selections will be released on the NCAA website by 6 p.m. EST on April 30
