No. 14 Seed Gators Take On No. 3 Seed Buckeyes in NCAA Round of 16
Thursday, May 15, 2014 | Men's Tennis
For the second time in three years, the Florida men's tennis team will face Ohio State in the NCAA Round of 16. The match between the two squads will take place on the Henry Feild Courts at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on Friday at 7 p.m.
This is the eighth time in the last 10 seasons that the UF program has earned a spot in the NCAA Round of 16.
The Gators fell to the Buckeyes in the 2012 NCAA Round of 16, 4-1, and again at this year's ITA National Indoors, but UF leads the all-time record over OSU, 3-2.
Senior Florent Diep
“Our last match against them [Ohio State] was indoors. Outdoors will be different. But, they're still a really good team. They're really good in doubles and they're good in every spot of the lineup. They're a great team, but it's going to be a different match. We're better now than we were when we played them last [Feb. 14, 2014 ITA National Indoors]. We're looking forward to the match and we're really excited about it.”
Freshman Maxx Lipman
“We're hitting our stride now. We had a great SEC Tournament and a great end to our season. We believe that we can beat anyone. Everybody, 1-6, is playing well. We have confidence going to Athens that we can win the match against Ohio State this time around.”
