Saturday, June 28, 2014 | Track and Field
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- 2014 All-American sprinter Antwan Wright capped off an outstanding sophomore campaign Friday at USA Outdoors, first using an all-conditions PR 10.08 (+2.4 wind) in semifinals of the 100m to advance to finals, where he placed sixth overall (10.37, -1.7) in the decorated field in Sacramento.
Senior middle-distance runner Cory McGee advanced to Sunday finals of the 1500m with a season-best 4:10.88 -- and those were just the opening acts for the Orange and Blue.
A trio of former Gator All-American jumpers put on a show for the crowd at Sacramento State Friday evening as Will Claye (17.75m/58-3), Christian Taylor (17.37m/57-0) and Omar Craddock (16.58m/54-4.75) took first, second and fourth at USA Outdoors, Claye winning his first USA outdoor title. The Gators have won five straight NCAA outdoor titles in the triple jump, as Taylor went back-to-back in 2010 and 2011, Craddock in 2012 & 2013, while current junior jumper Marquis Dendy swept both long and triple in 2014. Claye was the 2011 NCAA Indoor Champion in the triple jump.
Gator quartermiler Hugh Graham, Jr. (45.76) was also in action Friday night at the Jamaica National Senior Trials at National Stadium in Kingston Friday, winning his heat to advance in the 400m.
