Bedford Cup - Day 3

Pair of Gators Walk Away Winners
Monday, September 15, 2014 | Men's Tennis
Chase Perez-Blanco (Miami, Fla.) and Josh Wardell (Fort Myers, Fla.) teamed up to advance through the doubles consolation bracket and captured the final victory by default due to a four-hour singles match earlier in the day forcing one half of their opponent to forfeit the doubles final match.
With just one UF match left to be played on Monday, a consolation Navy Draw Singles final between Perez-Blanco and Wardell, the Gators decided to return to Gainesville Saturday evening in order to prepare to host the SEC Fall Classic which opens Friday, September 19.
Head Coach Bryan Shelton's Notes
“Chase and Josh played some good doubles today and certainly made progress through the weekend. The highlight today was watching Josh battle his way back in his singles match. He made some nice adjustments after losing the first set and competed extremely well. He gained a lot of confidence throughout the tournament.”
“Our freshmen certainly have a better idea of what they need to work on and I expect to have some productive practices before we host the SEC Classic this coming weekend.”
“Rich Brej was a leader for us both on and off the court this weekend. Glad he could finish off the weekend with a win.”
