Florida Men’s Golf Set to Challenge Field at Tavistock Collegiate

The No. 18 University of Florida men's golf team enters the final stretch of its fall season when it takes on the field at the Tavistock Collegiate this weekend. Florida will remain in the Sunshine State for its final two fall events, teeing off the pair of tournaments in Windermere on Sunday.
The Gators will compete against 14 other teams, including five top-25 squads, at the Isleworth Country Club from Sunday through Tuesday. This will be the UF's seventh appearance at the Tavistock Collegiate. It placed 11th at the event last season.
Freshman Sam Horsfield will lead the Gator lineup. The Davenport, Fla., native been the top finisher for Florida in two of its three tournaments, most recently tying for fourth at the Jerry Pate National last week in Birmingham, Ala. Junior Ryan Orr will hold the No. 2 spot, followed by freshmen Jorge Garcia and Kyler Tate, while sophomore Alejandro Tosti will complete the Orange and Blue's lineup.
Florida begins the event by teeing off on Sunday at 9:40 a.m.

On the Tavistock Collegiate:
“It's kind of a home event for a lot of us. We have two players from Orlando on our team who will be playing, and the tournament's right there in Windermere, so there will be tons and family and friends around. It will be a good test for us to stay focused, but we're playing by far the best golf we've played all year – the best golf I've seen as a coach. I'm really, really excited about the direction in which this team is headed. We get the chance to take on a great field at a great golf course, and I can't ask for much more than that.”
On expectations for the tournament:
“I'm trying not to think of what we should finish or of goals result-wise. I just want to keep getting better every day, and the guys have bought into doing that. I want them to enjoy it; there are going to be a lot of families and friends and people around and a buzz and excitement this weekend, and I want them to have fun and soak it up a little bit. I'm going to enjoy watching them, that's for sure.”
Course Information: The Isleworth Country Club is a par-72, 7,544-yard course.
Tournament Information: The tournament will run Sunday-Tuesday and is hosted by Texas Tech and UCF.
Format: The event is a three-day, 54-hole stroke tournament, with 18 holes played each day.
