LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla.- The University of Florida women's tennis team had a successful day at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic on Friday.
The Gators found success on the singles courts on Friday with two Gators advancing to the quarterfinals. Anna Danilina cruised in her match against Tennessee's Sadie Hammond, 6-1, 6-1. Spencer Liang defeated Alanna Wolff of Princeton in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Senior Brianna Morgan fell in her three set contest against USF's Nicole Dzenga, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 and Peggy Porter fell in her round of 16 match to Julia Ascua of FGCU, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
Doubles action saw both of the Gator duos move on to the semifinals with 8-2 victories. Liang and Porter defeated FGCU's Ascua and Treyes and Danilina and Morgan took down Dzenga and Klaric of USF.
The Gators will continue competition on Saturday morning.
